Saskatchewan, Canada – The Swifties of Saskatchewan have just made history, setting a new world record for the longest Taylor Swift friendship bracelet. Measuring an astounding 1,218 meters, the bracelet not only surpasses the previous record of 852.19 meters, but also claims the title of the world’s longest friendship bracelet.
This incredible feat was inspired by a radio listener in Regina named Holly. She suggested the idea as part of the Z99 and C95 radio stations’ #BackToSask campaign—a summer-long effort to capture the attention of Taylor Swift and invite her back to Saskatchewan, a province she last visited 15 years ago.
Beyond breaking records, the initiative had a powerful impact, raising $121,800 for Saskatchewan food banks, thanks to the generosity of Rawlco Radio’s C95 and Z99 stations.
David Froh with Food Banks Saskatchewan commented on how the success of this campaign will make a difference: “This means 360 ,000 meals will go to the 36 food banks across Saskatchewan, from Kipling to Swift Current to Regina and Saskatoon. It’s truly neighbors, feeding neighbors. And a huge thank you to C95, Z99, their listeners, and people all across the province who stepped up like only Saskatchewan can.”
Thousands of Saskatchewan Swifties, both new and long-time fans, contributed to the bracelet, symbolizing the unity and passion of a province that knows how to come together for a cause. The #BackToSask movement saw a wave of creativity, from cornfields carved with messages for Taylor, to Swiftie-inspired fishing lures, fan videos, songs, and plenty of laughs along the way.
“It’s would be a dream to have Taylor Swift come and visit Saskatchewan again,” said C95 Morning Show radio host, Shauna Foster. “It amazes us every time, that when the people of Saskatchewan work together, they can accomplish anything! Taylor may not be confirmed yet, but no matter the outcome, good things are happening,”
While it remains to be seen if Taylor Swift will make her way back to the province, she last visited in 2010, the belief among Saskatchewan Swifties is strong. “At the end of the day, I think she’ll see all that we’ve done and she’ll want to come back to the rolling prairies she fell in love with 15 years ago,” said listener Holly. About C95: C95 is a leading radio station in Saskatchewan, known for its community-driven initiatives and creative campaigns that bring people together for fun and meaningful causes.
