36th Annual Z99 Radiothon Raises $560,576 for babies needing Regina's NICU

Z99 hosts Cassity and Wheels hit the airwaves once again, sharing stories of heartbreak and triumph, to help save babies’ lives in Regina and southern Saskatchewan. Thanks to unwavering support from so many generous people in southern Saskatchewan, the 36th annual Z99 Radiothon raised $560,576 for Hospitals of Regina Foundation in support of our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), located in the Rawlco Centre for Mother Baby Care at Regina’s General Hospital.

“We are humbled and amazed at the generosity of the Zed Family again this year. The stories shared from NICU families about the life saving equipment and NICU staff reminds us why the Z99 Radiothon is so important and how it continues to support Southern Saskatchewan families. Thank you to everyone that donated we couldn’t do it without you” say Cassity & Wheels, Z99 Morning Show hosts.

Charlene Huber Flahr, manager of the NICU, says Regina’s NICU is one of the best in western Canada. “We are very fortunate to have Z99, the Foundation and a community that is committed to making the best technology available to our medical teams for babies across southern Saskatchewan, when their lives depend on critical care.”

“The generosity of this community never ceases to amaze us and we see it, not only during and leading up to Radiothon, but throughout the year,” says Dino Sophocleous, president and CEO, Hospitals of Regina Foundation. “Because of this amazing community, and our dedicated partners Cassity, Wheels and the Z99 team at Rawlco Radio, we are able to invest in the best pediatric care, right here at home.”

Over the past 36 years, the Z99 Radiothon has raised over $11.3 million for our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). With outstanding community support, the Radiothon, through Hospitals of Regina Foundation, has provided our NICU with leading edge, life-saving technology that helps our medical teams to care for fragile newborns and save babies’ lives.

The NICU is located in the Rawlco Centre for Mother Baby Care at the Regina General Hospital. Each year, 500 babies from 24 to 42 weeks old require care in the unit, making it an integral part of our pediatrics program in southern Saskatchewan.
