94.5 jack FM and Community raises over $175,000 for the Prostate Artery Embolization Trial

This year’s Uncover the Cure event raised $XXX,XXX in support of men’s health bringing the seven year total to $175,000. An initiative of Rawlco Radio, Uncover the Cure supports the Hospitals of Regina Foundation to benefit the Prostate Assessment Centre at the Pasqua Hospital. This year’s proceeds will support the Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE) trial.

A highlight of this year’s event was a $100,000 sponsorship from SaskPower.

Tom Newton, Vice President and General Manager of Rawlco Radio, said “Rawlco is heavily invested in supporting men’s healthcare and we’re very excited that this year’s event could support men’s health in a new way. The PAE trial holds enormous potential to become the new standard of care of men suffering with enlarged prostate.”

A first of its kind in Canada, the Prostate Artery Embolization trial is a new and innovative way to treat Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BHP) - an enlargement of the prostate gland and the most common benign tumor in men. More than half of men age 50 and older will develop BHP and that number rises to 90% of men by age 80. The trial is led by Interventional Radiologists Dr. Patanjali Chaturvedi and Dr. Ahmed Farooq.

Judy Davis, CEO of the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, said, “Rawlco is a community leader in spreading awareness of men’s health issues. Supporting the PAE trial is just one more example of their hard work and commitment to our community. We thank all of those who have attended this event. Their support makes all the difference.”
