Z99 Radiothon Raises over $740,000 for NICU

On March 14 & 15, Z99’s CC, Lorie and Buzz hit the airwaves for 36 hours live from the Cornwall Centre for the 2013 Z99 Radiothon. Thanks to community support, and the generous $150,000 matching donation of Potash Corp the Radiothon raised $742,343 for the Hospitals of Regina Foundation in support of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) located in the Rawlco Centre for Mother Baby Care at the Regina General Hospital.

Proceeds from the Radiothon will help purchase Giraffe warmers, Giraffe isolettes, body cooling units and neoblue bili lights.

“Our unit has been very well equipped because of community support for the Z99 Radiothon,” emphasizes Tom Sorensen, Manager of the NICU. “I’m not sure what we would do without it and we are very grateful. New equipment means everything – it meals we can continues to provide babies with the level of care they need and deserve.”

“This is the 26th Z99 Radiothon and once again our community has risen to the occasion to show their support for NICU,” says Tom Newton, Vice President and General Manager, Rawlco Radio. “The success of this event shares the message that the community deeply cares for these babies and their families. Rawlco Radio is honoured to be a part of such a worthy cause.”

“Rawlco Radio has been a tremendous supporter of healthcare in our community,” says Judy Davis, CEO of the Hospitals of Regina Foundation. “Each year they work tirelessly on making the Z99 Radiothon such a success. They have raised over $5 million for the NICU and we could not have established such world class facility without this partnership.”
