C95 HELPS ONE SELENA GOMEZ FAN LIVE HER DREAM AND MEET THE STAR
C95 was excited to welcome Selena Gomez back to Saskatoon yesterday evening at SaskTel Centre. Thousands of fans attended her show, and the screams roared through building as Selena sang and danced her way into the hearts of Saskatchewan.
For one young woman with Down syndrome, Angelica Finney, being able to attend the Selena Gomez concert was a dream come true. Due to a low income, however, Angelica had been unable to purchase her own tickets to the show. Late Wednesday evening, Angelica received the news that C95 was not only giving her a pair of tickets to the show, but they had also arranged for Angelica to attend an exclusive Meet & Greet with star.
C95 heard of Angelica’s situation and love for Selena when they received an email from Steve and Adele Patton, a mentor to Angelica.
“To say [Angelica] loves music is an understatement, and to say she likes Selena Gomez is an understatement of an understatement! As most young adult special needs people, sometimes things are a bit tight, and things like Selena Gomez tickets are an outright luxury. What would be the chances of C95 getting Angelica a couple of tickets for the concert in May? It would how she says… Rock her world!! If there was a chance of a meet and greet or something of that nature, she would have a smile that will not go away.”
The Patton’s request struck a chord with C95 hosts and promotions team, so they reached out to the promoter to see what they could do to make Angelica’s dream a reality.
C95’s Program Director, Shyla Williams, does not doubt that their efforts paid off.
“Seeing Angelica’s reaction when she received the news brought joy to all of our faces. It’s in moments like this, you can’t help but smile knowing you made a big difference in someone’s life.”
