C95 RADIO MARATHON FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH RAISES $340,432

The C95 Radio Marathon for Breast Cancer Research raised $340,432 during today’s 12-hour live broadcast, with over $5.3 Million since the Radio Marathon began in 2000.

This year showcased inspiring stories from breast cancer survivors like Trenna Derdall. Trenna was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer at the age of 46.

“Fear… so much fear [when I was diagnosed]. I was afraid that I would not live long enough to see my daughter’s graduate from university, get married, or have children. I was going to do everything possible to live. I am forever grateful for the Saskatoon Cancer Center. I am alive today because of the research and my medical team for saving my life.”

The success of the C95 Radio Marathon is because of the outstanding people of Saskatchewan who give their heart to the cause and get involved.

Nine-year-old, Ellie Doherty, raised $330 for the Radio Marathon by making and selling rainbow loom bracelets to family and friends.

“I chose to get involved for my grandma who finished cancer treatments last week.”

All partners involved with the C95 Radio Marathon share the same goal – ending breast cancer. Thank you to our listeners, the survivors, community fundraisers, corporate partners and everyone who donated generously.

Here are just a few of the outstanding donations made today:

  • Gordon Rawlinson
  • Proud Partner, Midwest Laser Centre
  • Matching Partner, Cameco
  • Orano
  • Saskatoon Medical Imaging
  • Saskatoon Watersports
  • FYI Doctors, Atrium Eye Care

Proceeds from today’s event will be used by the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan to support breast cancer research and help Saskatchewan researchers find new treatments for those affected by breast cancer every year.

The Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan is the fundraising partner of the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency. Every dollar raised by the Foundation stays in the province supporting patient treatment and care, research, plus early detection and prevention programs.
